What is Reference ID?
A **Reference ID** is a unique alphanumeric identifier generated by the ECI system when you successfully submit Form 6, Form 6A, Form 7, or Form 8.
You can find this Reference ID in the confirmation receipt downloaded or sent via SMS/Email at the time of form submission.

Stages of Voter Application Processing
Once you submit a registration or modification application, the form passes through several verification checkpoints before final execution:
- 1. Submitted: The initial stage when your form is successfully logged in ECI servers and the reference ID is generated.
- 2. Appointed BLO: The Electoral Registration Officer appoints a local Booth Level Officer to verify the claims made in your application form.
- 3. Field Verified: The BLO visits your home address to verify details physically (confirming age, residency, and spelling validity) and submits a verification report.
- 4. Accepted / Rejected: The ERO reviews the BLO report. If valid, the form is accepted, and your details are updated. If invalid or documents are missing, the form is rejected, with reasons cited on the portal.
How to Track Progress Online
- Input your Reference ID and select your state in the tracking form card above.
- Click the status track button. You will be redirected to the secure page on `voters.eci.gov.in`.
- Login to your account on the ECI portal.
- Input your reference ID and select state again on the official check page.
- Click "Search". The screen displays a timeline indicating completed checkpoints (Submitted -> BLO Appointed -> Field Verified -> Accepted/Rejected).
Next Steps After Acceptance
If your application is accepted:
- New Registration (Form 6): A new EPIC number is generated. You will receive an SMS. You can download the e-EPIC PDF online. A physical plastic card is dispatched via speed post within 30-45 days.
- Correction (Form 8): Your details are updated in the live database. You can download the updated card immediately.
